Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get heard?

All submissions (whether it's a recorded CD or live performance) are put through and evaluation process with the students of FlatFoot Records. After the submission is approved, producers are assigned and the A&R Department contacts the artist to schedule recording times.

How does a Submisson get approved?

Submissions are evaluated on several different topics. Musicanship is only one of many ways we evaluate. Don't worry we do not judge on the quality of your recording, if selected it'll be our job to get you a quality recording. Also keep in mind that we receive a lot of submissions and can only fit a certain number of projects in a semester.

How do I get a Recording Contract?

Once your Demo is finished, the producers bring it back to the label and the project is once again evaluated by the students of FlatFoot Records. At this time we vote on whether or not to bring the artist back to record a full length album and offer them an official recording contract. The contract includes graphics help with you CD art, promotions, artist management and many other perks! And if, for whatever reason, either FlatFoot doesn't extend a contract offer or the artist chooses not to stay with us, YOUR DEMO IS YOUR'S TO KEEP FOR FREE! (We release sound recording rights and files to the artist.)

Wanna Play?

Your first experience with FlatFoot Records will be recording a three-song demo of your original material, even if you don't have a supporting band. We have access to a number of musicians through Valencia Community College's many music ensembles, including the Commercial Music Ensemble with guitarists, drummers and singers.

What other bands have your recorded?

We have recorded many bands in our three years of operation. We do not limit ourselves to one genre. Check out our current artist page to see other bands we are recording and bands we have recorded.

What Equipment do you use?

FlatFoot Records is a student run record label at Valencia Community College. Because the recording and mixing process at FlatFoot are educational experiences for the students there is no charge for studio time and no rental fees for use of our equipment or microphones. All of our studios are equipped with professional equipment including ProTools system and gear from Avalon, Lexicon, Sound Craft and many others. We use Neuman, Sennheiser, Earthworks and AKG microphones to name a few!
